Artist's Description
"MARK TWAIN"
Samuel Langhorne Clemens (November 30, 1835 April 21, 1910), better known by his pen name Mark Twain, was an American author and humorist. He wrote The Adventures of Tom Sawyer (1876) and its sequel, Adventures of Huckleberry Finn (1885), the latter often called "the Great American Novel."
Twain grew up in Hannibal, Missouri, which provided the setting for Huckleberry Finn and Tom Sawyer. After an apprenticeship with a printer, he worked as a typesetter and contributed articles to his older brother Orion's newspaper. He later became a riverboat pilot on the Mississippi River. His wit and satire, in prose and in speech, earned praise from critics and peers, and he was a friend to presidents, artists, industrialists, and European royalty.
Though Twain earned a great deal of money from his writings and lectures, he invested in ventures that lost a great deal of money. In the wake of these financial setbacks h...
About Anne Barberi
“My interest in art began in the early '70's after a visit to the Louvre museum in Paris. I was awed by the works of Renoir and the old Masters, leaving a deep and lasting impression -but It would be many years before I would discover a passion for painting. Creating and expressing myself through oils has been an amazing journey full of self discovery and joy and it is my hope that by sharing my art, others will be inspired within themselves.” Anne has studied with notable national artists and her art has been juried and exhibited in Naples, Florida, Rhode Island, Connecticut and Massachusetts. Her portfolio can be seen on abarberi.pixels.com ...

I need to make another comment--Mark Twain reveled in the sensation his appearance created--it was practiced and studied and adjusted for effect but he became noted for his appearance in addition to his wit--it is so well captured here. Make that 200 years and youthful ones pleas.

. . . Beautiful piece of work, Enjoy images with a broad spectrum of contrast and ... one of my - FAVORITES ... today... Black and White has been my FAVORITE media since 1936, when my first camera was a Kodak Vest Pocket camera with Bellows, variable speed and aperture. My Aunt taught me how to use the camera, process, film in the dark, and make prints..... The rest is History. :) .
